PetroLatina is an equal opportunities employer who seeks to ensure the health and safety of its employees.
Job creation and security
PetroLatina produces a monthly report on the number of its employees and hours worked. An analysis of these reports in terms of movement statistics, percentage of direct and indirect employees, and contractors, and the percentage of women working indicates patterns among the Company’s workforce. Procedures can then be implemented to help improve job security for employees, and the execution of equal opportunities can be monitored.
Training
PetroLatina aims to provide a fair and competitive working environment where employees’ professional skills are developed through training and evaluation. PetroLatina carries out performance evaluations of all its employees to ascertain where there is a need for training and education. Using the results of these appraisals and questionnaires directed to employees, a training time sheet is created and updated each month on specific technical training needs, as well as industrial safety and occupational health training requirements.
Engagement
PetroLatina’s management process provides for surveys of staff opinion which enable staff to disagree with Company policy. Channels also exist for employees to communicate directly with members of the board and senior management.
Health and Safety
PetroLatina is committed to meeting its responsibilities for the health and safety of its employees and those who come into contact with its activities indirectly, whether as stakeholders such as local communities or contractors. The Company endeavours to ensure that there are no accidents; that no harm comes to the Company’s employees and assets; and in addition that no damage is caused to the environment. PetroLatina regularly monitors the health and safety of its operations, upgrading policies in the light of changing situations, and complies with international codes and standards. PetroLatina has a Quality, Industrial Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policy in place with clear objectives resulting in the thorough evaluation and careful control of risks. This is achieved through the use of the following management tools:
• Safe work analysis
• Employee diagnosis and health study
• Chemical handling programmes
• System of work permits
A more detailed outline of health and safety can be seen in PetroLatina’s Quality, Industrial Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policy.
All employees in the office as well as in the field are trained in health and safety (including emergency plans) from the moment they join the Company. This training is periodically repeated. All activities undertaken are evaluated as medium or high risk and procedures are in place for each. The Company has contingency plans for each building with the intention of dealing efficiently with potential emergencies. These plans have been widely distributed to all members of staff, to the authorities and the neighbouring community.
Human Rights
PetroLatina seeks to ensure that the rights and dignity of all employees is respected. All employees should be treated fairly and under the protection of an equal opportunities policy. PetroLatina has a Human Rights policy that employees can see in the work regulations. |
